Ryan Teets (b. 2007) is an American composer, arranger, trumpet player, and percussionist from Howell, Michigan. He currently studies composition at the University of Michigan, in which he also plays trumpet in the Michigan Marching Band. Teets is also an alumni of Interlochen Arts Camp. Throughout high school and college, he has studied with Dr. Kristin Kuster, Dr. Carrie Magin, and Ms. Lisa Lachowski. Ryan grew up surrounded by video games, and the vast majority of his compositional library is described as having a video game sound to it. This video game sound is present in jazz and classical pieces alike, such as the Mario Kart and Katamari Damacy inspired “Radiance,” and the Final Fantasy inspired “ELECTRON SIMULATION.” Classical composers such as Gustav Holst, George Gershwin, and Viet Cuong also have had a big impact in the music he has written.
